New features
- Flagging.
- Scrolling panes work better.
- Now we prevent adding duplicate feeds.
Fixes
- Feeds in any language and encoding should work. Old entries parsed before this update will still have invalid characters though.
- Mixed case URLs don’t mess up when adding feeds.
- Add feed bookmarklet now prompts for login when needed.
- Other bug fixes and parsing fixes.

Actually on my Firefox 1.5.0.6 running on win XP, the scrolling panes have a problem now:
The bottom light blue box with the three links is stuck at the very bottom of the page, below the fold, when there are few feeds, and is showing on top of the last feed when there are many.
Thanks for fixing the foreign language encoding problem. I’m waiting from some of my french pages to come to check it out.

This might be a stupid question , but could you please explain the purpose of the flags?
I flagged some items, but then when I clicked on mark all read my flagged items has been disappeared.

Not stupid at all if you ask me. I was gonna ask the same question.

Follow up:
What I was hoping for when it comes to Flagging an article was flagging for reading later. I was hoping it would put a mark in the Feed pane, so that I could use the “Mark all read”, but still have a mark of something I wanna take a closer look at.

That exactly what I was expecting, I really wish if there is a folder where all the flagged items are kept. It would be a better way for reading items later instead of checking “Keep unread” check box

I was thinking along the same lines but am thoroughly confused as to how the “flagged” feature functions. Some help would be kindly appreciated!

Also you seem to have fixed the display problems in Opera: Now the feeds won’t open at all

Guys - clicking the flag icon on an article will in essence save the article for you. If you click on “Mark all as read” your flagged items do not go away, they are veiwable by doing the following:
1) Click on the Options tab at the top of the sidebar.
2) Check “Show Flagged Items”. The sidebar content will change to show your flagged items.
3) Click the “Read” tab and begin re-reading or viewing your flagged items.
4) When you want to go back to your regular feeds, just uncheck the “Show Falled Entried” item. The sidebar content then returns to your regular feeds.
Hope that helps!

Whoa, my typing is terrible, #4 should read, just uncheck “Show Flagged Entries”.

btw I HAVE found the “show flagged” in options, but it wasnt really what I was hoping for. Perhaps a tab between “Read” and “Manage” called “Flagged” would be a good idea. Showing all flagged entries. That would make for a shorter trip and more usability than having to go in to options every time.

Daniel, I agree. The less clicks the better.

The flagged idea is great, but way too many clicks. I would think that moving the checkbox to the top of the “Read” column would be more helpful. That might just be me though.

alles klar and Röttgar,
Try clearing your cache to fix the FF blue bar and Opera issues. If that doesn’t work, let me know.
Thanks.

I love flagged items; but I do not want to go to another screen to click a preference. View my flags, then return to a pref screen to uncheck it. Can’t I just choose “unread” itmes AND flagged items. Or can all my flagged item live in a separate folder. Or just put the check box on the “read” pane instead of the options tab.
Great app. I love it.

I totally agree about Flags. While I’m psyched to have the feature, it seems way to far away to get to it. I’d love for you to consider adding a 4th tab for “Flagged.”
Thanks for my favorite reader.

Great additions to this feed reader. Now I just need a context menu for the feedlist such that I can mark a feed as read, update a feed etc.

Great update!
After 3 weeks without internet access, I was curious to see how Newshutch would handle the accumulated items, and so far it looks good! Now I just need to find the time to read my 4000+ feed items! >_

I’m having trouble getting my site’s RSS feeds working on the Hutch. They work fine in Thunderbird and Netvibes, but in Newshutch there’s no title and it doesn’t recognize updates. A sample xml feed is:
http://www.qloud.com/api/feeds/channels/Rifkin%27s%20Plays%20in%2030%20Days.xml
Any help would be appreciated

Hi Mike,
The only time I’ve seen that feed in our logs it was returning 404 errors (not found) and that was a few days ago. Are you still having problems with it?

I like the ‘mark everthing as read’ button, but it only show when I check ‘only show unread’ in options, which normally I don’t. So, I check, mark, uncheck a lot!
That’s a lot of extra clicking.
Small nit, I know, but…
