For James and Marston: I just wanted to pop in here and note the servers ARE up. Our Accelerators are built to scale - and do. All the time.

I have reached out to Nathan to see if there is a hand we can lend here - but if it is outside the server, there is nothing we can do.

Likewise, I hope that something happens soon or that there will at least be some communication about the current state of things. I don't want to switch from Newshutch, because I really love it, but the last few weeks have just been painful.

Well.

Nearly three weeks now, and we're still in the cold. Sometimes it works, but most of the times, it didn't. We don't know if it's evolving, if this will change one day. In fact, the team are pretty quiet, nearly hiding.

Yes I know, it's free. But we're still customers, a bit of communication would be nice!

It's sad, Newshutch is great, and before that it was snappy. For now, I'll be on google reader, with hope that this situation evolve.

During this downtime period there is only one thing I miss: The ability to download a OPML with all my feeds. Maybe you could cache everyone's OPMLs the next time you schedule maintenance?

Then it would be easy to switch to another news provider temporarily.

Hope to see the service back online very soon!

I'd like to add my vote for improved communication. I'll stick with you through the rough periods if I know what's going on, but without any communication, it's pretty tempting to hop over to another feed reader.

Too little too late, unfortunately.

I have just downloaded a great desktop RSS reader for my Mac, and won't be coming back. I cancelled my user account this afternoon.

Sorry Newshutch ? great application but lousy hosting and customer service. Good luck in the future.

Please please please respond with a blog post when your service is usable again. i LOVE newshutch and don't want to use anything else, but the limited time i have to catch up on my feed reader is not enough to use newshutch. was seriously looking at joyent to for hosting...not so much now.

Thanks everyone, we're working to resolve this. We'll do a postmortem as soon as we figure it out.

Another NewsHutch faithful here and I have to agree with everyone else unfortunately :-( Especially over the last few days/weeks it has been unusable most of the time. I hope this has been because of the move and not since you've been hosting with Joyent.

The Joyent guys are a smart bunch and I got a chance to speak with many of them at RailsConf Europe but as another commenter said all their talk about scaling doesn't mean much if they can't keep their servers up.

You might want to consider other excellent Rails hosting solutions such as http://www.EngineYard.com or http://www.Slicehost.com

I guess its Google Reader in the meantime though I hope to see you guys up soon! Good luck!
